Biography
Craig Charles Fishbein is a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives representing the 90th State House District. A resident of Wallingford, Connecticut, he was first elected to the Connecticut General Assembly as a State Representative in 2016, by successfully winning a special election (to fill the vacancy created by the passing of Mary G. Fritz) and a regular election, both held on the same date.
Biography
Fishbein was born on July 16, 1965 in Queens, New York to Norman F. and Vivian B. Fishbein (nka Vivian Bitel). He is the eldest grandchild of the late Uria and Johanna Fishbein and Vincent and Emelia Bitel, all originally of Wallingford, Connecticut. He graduated from Mark T. Sheehan High School in 1983 and Quinnipiac University in 1997 with a degree in Marketing, and from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2001. In 2002, Fishbein started practicing law with his father, at Fishbein Law Firm, LLC, in Wallingford.
Political career
Prior to being elected to the State House, and contemporaneous with his position there, Fishbein serves as a member of the Wallingford Town Council, having first been elected to that position in 2009. In addition to his duties as a member of the Town Council, he is the Chairman of the Town Council's Ordinance Committee, the only sub-Committee of the Town Council made up of its entire membership.
Fishbein is currently serving his first term as State Representative for Connecticut’s 90th District which includes a portion of Wallingford, Connecticut, and a portion of Cheshire, Connecticut. In the legislature, Fishbein serves on the Public Safety and Security Committee, Energy & Technology Committee, and the Commerce Committee.
Fishbein is a member of the Connecticut General Assembly Conservative Caucus the mission of which is to facilitate open debate about the role of government in society, adherence to the Constitution, and the rule of law. They propose and advocate for legislation that promotes the freedoms, individual rights and the prosperity of all Americans.
Political positions
Fishbein has a record of voting for smaller government, lower taxes, and less interference in the day-to-day affairs of our law-abiding citizens. He has championed the causes of limited government, personal responsibility and the need for fiscal accountability in government. Fishbein is known for his "hands-on" approach to representation and his strong constituent service.
