Clem Bastow (born Clementine Bastow c. 1982) is a writer, broadcaster and music critic currently based in Melbourne, Australia.
Media work
Bastow is a columnist for Fairfax Media's Daily Life. She is also a regular contributor to The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, Guardian Australia and The Big Issue. She is From 2004 to 2011 she was Senior Contributor to Inpress, where she wrote the weekly singles review column Singled Out; in 2012 her review of Brian McFadden's Just The Way You Are (Drunk At The Bar) won the Gold EVA and Best Opinion EVA Awards. A longtime presenter on respected Melbourne community radio station 3RRR, until 2011 Bastow presented Transference, a weekly radio show. She has worked in television, including on the Channel 31 music criticism panel show Dancing About Architecture. Bastow was also a member of the RocKwiz Brains Trust. Her written work has appeared in books including the 2009 anthology Your Mother Would Be Proud. In 2009, Bastow was named as part of the judging panel of the Australian Music Prize. Along with Brenna Glazebrook she wrote and performed The Audition at the 2010 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. It followed 2009's Club XX, which The Age called "mocking, self-deprecating and funny". Her most recent live work was the 2014 Melbourne Fringe Festival show Escape From L.A; the show will be revived at the 2015 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
