Biography
Catherine Martin is an Irish politician who is the Deputy Leader of the Green Party since 2011 and a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin Rathdown constituency upon being elected in the 2016 General Election.
She was a member of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council from 2014 to 2016.
Personal life
Catherine is a mother of three, and had been a teacher of English and Music at St. Tiernan’s Community School in Dundrum for 15 years prior to being elected to the Dáil. She is married to Francis Duffy, a Green Party politician who is the Deputy Mayor of the South Dublin County Council.
Political career
Catherine joined the Green Party in 2007, and was elected as Deputy Leader of the Green Party in 2011. In 2014 she was elected to the Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council, and was elected to the Dáil in the 2016 General Election, after receiving 4,122 first preference votes.
She is the Green Party's Education Spokesperson.
