Barbara Spiegel (12 March 1943 — 6 November 2020) was an American film and television actress known for playing Judge Harriet Doremus in Law & Order (1991-2005).
Early life
Barbara Spiegel was born as Barbara Joy Spiegel on March 12, 1943, in New York City, New York.
Career
Spiegel made her screen debut in 1971 with a minor role in Jim McBride's sci-fi adventure film Glen and Randa. The same year, she has a role in Robert B. Bean's comedy Made for Each Other starring Renée Taylor and Joseph Bologna.
In 1982, she played Billie in Sydney Pollack's comedy Tootsie with Dustin Hoffman and Jessica Lange.
From 1991, Spiegel began playing Arraignment Judge Harriet Doremus in the TV series Law & Order. She was seen in 13 episodes through 2005. She also played Judge Ellen Dreiser.
In 2017, Spiegel played Betty Hester character in Richard Levine's mystery drama Submission, starring Stanley Tucci and Kyra Sedgwick.
Her last screen presence was in 2019 in the role of Theresa in Javier Molina's short drama Wonder
Death
Spiegel died on November 6, 2020, in New York City, New York. She was 77.
