Biography
Barbara McLachlan is a Democratic member of the Colorado House of Representatives. She represents District 59, which covers Archuleta, Gunnison, Hinsdale, La Plata, Ouray, and San Juan counties.
McLachlan was elected to her seat in 2016, when she beat incumbent Republican J. Paul Brown. Her husband Mike McLachlan has also held the seat, taking it from Brown in 2012 and losing it to him in 2014.
McLachlan is a Durango resident and a retired teacher at Durango High School. She has a journalism degree from Colorado State University and once wrote for the Durango Herald.
McLachlan serves on the House Education Committee and the House Transportation & Energy Committee.
Elections
McLachlan was elected to the House of Representatives in 2016, winning with 50.73% of the vote over incumbent Republican J. Paul Brown.
