Biography

Arthur Hoare (16 September 1840 – 26 December 1896) was an English cricketer. Hoare was a right-handed batsman, although his bowling style is unknown. He was born at Withyham, Sussex.
Hoare made his first-class debut for Sussex against Kent in 1869 at the Higher Common Ground, Tunbridge Wells. In 1871, he made a second appearance in first-class cricket, this time for Kent against WG Grace's XI at Mote Park, Maidstone. He later made a third and final appearance in first-class cricket for Sussex against Yorkshire in 1873 at Bramall Lane, Sheffield. In his three first-class matches, Hoare scored a total of 87 runs at an average of 14.50, with a high score of 39. With the ball, he took a single wicket at a cost of 37 runs.
He died at Edenbridge, Kent on 26 December 1896.
