Biography
Arlan Hamilton is the founder and managing partner of Backstage Capital.
Career
In 2015, Hamilton founded Backstage Capital, a fund that invests in underestimated founders, like women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ community. In May 2018, Hamilton announced her firm would also launch a $36 million fund specifically for black female founders.
Previously, Hamilton founded and published the internationally distributed indie magazine Interlude and served as tour manager to Atlantic Records recording artist Janine.
In March 2019, after difficulty raising a planned $36m fund, Hamilton stepped down as CEO of Backstage Studio and was forced to lay off a number of Backstage employees.
In June 2019 Hamilton was named by Business Insider as one of the most powerful LGBTQ+ people in tech.
