Anietie Isong is a Nigerian/British author of poetry and short stories.
Biography
A graduate of the University of Ibadan, where he studied Communication Arts, Isong worked in broadcasting for Metro FM, also scriptwriting for the Nigerian station, before relocating to the United Kingdom. There, he studied at the University of Leicester. His earlier work writing scripts for radio evolved into a more dedicated focus on writing. Among his poems and short stories, he won the MUSON Poetry Award for "These Many Rivers" and the Commonwealth Short Story Award for "Diary of an ECOMOG Soldier". He subsequently won a special prize in the Commonwealth competition for "best Nigerian story" in 2010.
Isong is employed with Shell as a Speech Writer. He formerly worked at the University of Birmingham as International Press Officer. His elder sister, Emen Isong, is a well-known producer and screenplay writer for Nollywood films.
