Andy Manar

Andy Manar is an American politician and member of the Democratic Party. He has served as a member of the Illinois Senate since January 2013, representing the 48th district, which includes parts of Central Illinois.

Manar is known for his work on education funding reform in Illinois. He is credited with serving as the chief negotiator in the passage of Senate Bill 1947, a landmark education funding reform measure that was signed into law in 2017.

In the Illinois Senate, Manar serves as the Chairman of the Appropriations II Committee. He is also a member of several other committees, including the Education Committee, the Licensed Activities and Pensions Committee, and the Redistricting Committee.

Manar was born and raised in Bunker Hill, Illinois. He earned a bachelor's degree in politics and government from Eastern Illinois University. Prior to his career in politics, he worked as a farm equipment dealership owner and a legislative aide.

In addition to his work on education funding reform, Manar is also known for his efforts in pushing for Medicaid reform in Illinois. He has been an advocate for expanding access to healthcare and improving the quality of care provided to low-income individuals and families.
