Biography

Amos Kinne Hadley (October 12, 1812 Waterford, Caledonia County, Vermont – March 5, 1901 Mt. Vernon, Westchester County, New York) was an American lawyer and politician.

Life

He was the son of Stephen Hadley (1777–1861) and Sarah Cushman Hadley (1780–1867).

He graduated from Hamilton College. Then he studied law with Judge John P. Cushman in Troy, New York, and was admitted to the bar in 1843.

He was a Whig member of the New York State Assembly in 1847 (Rensselaer Co.); 1848 and 1849 (both Rensselaer Co., 1st D.); and was Speaker in 1848 and 1849.

He died at the residence of his daughter Anna Hadley with whom he had lived the last ten years of his life. He was buried at the Claverack Cemetery in Claverack, New York.
