Biography
Alok Kumar Mehta (born 3 November 1966) is a veteran Indian politician belonging to Bihar state. He is presently a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), representing the Ujiyarpur District of Bihar, India (2015 Bihar Legislative State Assembly Elections). He was initially Honorable Minister to the Department of Co-operatives, Bihar, India 2015 Bihar Legislative State Assembly elections, until his term of service to the department abruptly ended in 2017 following the unpredicted resignation of then Honorable Chief Minister, Bihar, Shri Nitish Kumar, dissolution of the Cabinate & then following alliance with BJP led NDA, previously in opposition. He is also a former member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He represents the Ujiarpur constituency of Bihar and is also the National Youth President of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) political party. -->
Controversies
The veteran's name cropped up in the media in a "job racket" along with another minister, to which he gave a befitting statement which reflected his clarity of thoughts and practicality, "When reporters asked about the messages, minister Alok Kumar Mehta said: 'We are political people and hundreds of commoners come to us with their pleas and have to oblige them. It is no secret that politicians lobby. However, I am ready to cooperate in any investigation.' "
