Biography
Al Siesta is a British boxing promoter, manager and matchmaker. He is affiliated with Matchroom boxing, World Boxing Super Series, Ringstar (France), OPI since 82 (Italy) and RCC boxing (Russia).
Early life & education
Born in present-day Kyrgyzstan, Al Siesta was raised primarily in Moscow. Dropping out of Moscow Academy of contemporary music In 1996, he moved to England to further pursue his musical career.
He worked under the moniker Al Siesta before transitioning into the boxing world to follow his newly found passion. He carried on using his pseudonym when he made a career switch to boxing full-time.
Career
Al Siesta's boxing journey began as a freelancing matchmaker working with Andrey Ryabinskiy and his company World of Boxing in Russia. He discovered Armenian born welterweight David Avanesyan and brought him to the UK, further guiding him to an Interim WBA Welterweight title in 2015.
In the same year, he started working with Latvian Cruiserweight Mairis Briedis. While working with Briedis, Al Siesta staged a promotional event under the newly formed outfit Siesta Boxing. The event was hosted in Riga in 2016, with Mairis Briedis winning by way of a second-round knock out beating the South African Danie Venter for the IBF Inter-Continental Cruiserweight title. His promotional exploits continued in Riga with Mairis Briedis defeating tough Nigerian Olanrewaju Durodola for the WBC Silver Cruiserweight title in May 2016.
Siesta continued his career in the UK, Lithuania and Latvia. In 2017, Al gained recognition within the boxing industry with Mairis Briedis winning the WBC World Cruiserweight title against Marco Huck. In 2019, Al Siesta further held a series of international events and was a key part of facilitating many high-profile fights.
Matchmaking and Management
Al Siesta is currently managing a WBO Global welterweight Champion Luther "The Black Panther" Clay and South African based IBF super bantamweight Champion Ludumo "9mm" Lamati. As an advisor, Al is actively involved in the careers of many European fighters. Amongst his clients are industry giants such as Matchroom Boxing, World Boxing Super Series, RCC Boxing Promotions, Ringstar (France), OPI since 82 (Italy) and many other promotional outfits throughout the world.
