Adam Babcock (September 27, 1740 — December 16, 1817) was an American merchant and shipowner from New Haven, Connecticut, where he owned and outfitted one or more privateers in the Revolution.
Babcock was born on September 27, 1740, in Westerly, Washington County, Rhode Island, to Major General Joshua Babcock (1707 – 1783) and Hannah Stanton Babcock (1714 – 1783).
Personal life
Babcock was married twice. His first marriage was with Abigail (Smith) Babcock (1744 – 1777). After Abigail's death, Babcock married Martha (Hubbard) Babcock (1758 – 1837) in 1779.
Death
Babcock died on December 16, 1817, in Boston, Massachusetts, at the age of 77.
