Xavien Howard (born July 4, 1993) is an American football cornerback for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Baylor. Howard was drafted 38th overall in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Dolphins.
Early years
Howard is a native of the Fifth Ward area of Houston. Howard attended Wheatley High School in Houston, Texas. He played cornerback and quarterback. He committed to Baylor University to play college football.
College career
Howard played at Baylor from 2012 to 2015. During his career he had 98 tackles, 10 interceptions 1.5 sacks and one touchdown. After his junior year he declared for the 2016 NFL Draft.

Professional career
Coming out of college, Howard was projected by analysts to be selected in the second or third round. He was ranked the eighth best cornerback out of the 261 available. He was invited to the NFL Combine and completed all the positional drills and workouts. At Baylor's pro day, he chose to redo the majority of workouts and improved on all his combine numbers. Representatives and scouts from every NFL team attended Baylor's Pro Day, as he, Shawn Oakman, Andrew Billings, Corey Coleman, Spencer Drango, and 11 other teammates workout out.

The Miami Dolphins selected Howard in the second round (38th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.
On May 18, 2016, the Dolphins signed Howard to a four-year, $6.12 million contract with $3.83 million guaranteed.
