Viktor Đerek (born March 8, 2000) is a Croatian photographer. His work is layered by nature, landscape, portrait and historiographical subjects.
His musical career began at the age of 8, after performing live at Marin Držić Theatre
, performing cover versions of pop songs.In 2013, a short documentary film that was used in an advertising campaign for a tourist organization was made.
Biography
Early life and education
Viktor Đerek was born in Split on March 8, 2000, to Dragana and Dragan Đerek. He has a younger brother Stjepan and younger sister Katarina.
Đerek's talent was recognized by his elementary school teacher after getting involved in musical theater and quickly developing a love of music and performance. Đerek studied music at Luka Sorkočević Art School
.Work
Đerek gained an interest in photography at age 9 when he took a photography class. Afterward, he began traveling with his grandfather while taking photos independently and uploading them to the image hosting website Flickr. His love for photography was inherited by his grandfather.
Đerek was announced as a winner of a music show for teens called "Republika" in 2012. He continued to perform live at various manifestations such as the Dubrovnik Summer Festival.
In mid-2013, Đerek directed, produced and filmed his first short documentary film – Fairy Tale Croatia. The film features footage of the city of Dubrovnik, Zadar, and Zagreb as well as footage of the National Park of Plitvice Lakes. Some of the movie promotions where Đerek took part are Love, Simon and A Star is Born. A special screening of Love, Simon movie was arranged in cooperation with Blitz-CineStar
before the official release was announced.In mid-2019, Kasno je (English: It is late), a philosophical prose was released. Afterward, his photographs were published in a new historical novel by author Milko Peko
which is entitled Grački boj.Short films
