Biography
Tony Lazaro (born September 30, 1967) is an American heavy metal guitarist, best known as the longtime guitarist for the Providence, Rhode Island-based death metal band Vital Remains.
Vital Remains was formed in 1988 by the guitarist Paul Flynn. The band's first line-up included Paul Flynn on lead guitar, Butch Machado on rhythm guitar, vocalist Mike Flynn, bassist Tom Supkow and drummer Chris Dupont. Restructuring the band that fit his vision, Flynn added Lazaro as the guitarist and Jeff Gruslin as the vocalist. Lazaro also shares the song-writing duties along with Flynn.
Lazaro was previously associated with the following bands:
- Dark Lord (1987)
- Equinox
- Melek Taus (1982-1983)
- Somatic Death (1985-1986)
Lazaro uses his custom-designed guitar he callsThe Crucifire. The guitar — built by Boston-based Yavcon Guitars (now defunct) — features a three-way laminate neck-thru with red inverted cross inlays, and maple wings.
