Biography

Timothy Olague (born February 14, 1967) is an American music publisher, actor, film producer, writer, art collector, and former Professional Roller Derby skater.

Early entertainment career

After growing up in San Diego and Upland, California, and majoring in Filmmaking at Pitzer College in Claremont, California, Olague headed for Hollywood soon after graduation and was a frequent invitee on television dating shows such as The Love Connection and A Perfect Score. Olague also found work as a freelance, TV Sports Reporter and interviewed both Don King and Julio Cesar Chavez after his first loss to Oscar De La Hoya. Meanwhile, Olague soon began promoting some of the earliest Latin hip hop acts including Mellow Man Ace and A Lighter Shade of Brown.

Music industry

Through Timothy Olague Entertainment, produced concerts at California, Arizona, and Nevada Casinos in the 1990s featuring headliners such as Keith Sweat, Ray Charles, Enrique Iglesias, Freddy Fender (The King of Tex-Mex), Rick James (prison release concert tour) and Roger Troutman of Zapp and Roger (talkbox legend). The Concert Promoter also produced a decade of Concerts in the greater Joplin, Missouri area, in 2001–2011 featuring acts such as The Bellamy Brothers, David Clayton-Thomas of Blood Sweat and Tears, Pat Green, Hermans Hermits and Joe Diffie.

On July 4, 2011, Rush Limbaugh, a Missouri native, attended the Joe Diffie concert at an annual event celebrated by Joplin, Missouri, at Landreth Park, less than two months after the 2011 Joplin Tornado and the radio icon remains a force in the 2011 Joplin Tornado rebuilding initiative. Over 40,000 people were in attendance for the concert.

Since 1994, Olague has released Aztlan Priceless Music (BMI) content through his own label, Mayan Records. In 1998, Mayan released Mayan All Stars, a compilation of R&B and Hip-Hop recordings featuring Chulo, TearDrop (both of A Lighter Shade of Brown), and the Creeps. Mayan All Stars was originally pressed and distributed worldwide by Mayan Records/BMG US Latin and is currently regarded as rare, campy, and hard to find. A digital re-release of all original tunes on the album (re-named "Made in Japan") is rumored to be forthcoming in March, 2017.

On July 27, 2012, Olague's publishing company participated in the release of CAMERA TRUTH'S "Psycho Acoustics" release, as BMI Publisher of 5 of 6 songs on the extended EP, which features a cover of Leonard Cohen's "Bird on a Wire." On December 27, 2016, Aztlan Priceless Music released CAMERA TRUTH'S "In The Air" single.

In addition, original Mayan Records' recording artists "CHULO", "TEARDROP", and "TIMOTHY E. RUSSELL": "K.A.T" (formerly "Known As Tim", of THE CREEPS) continue to release music.

According to trending reports, including music sales, Russell's music is well ahead of its time and reaches a wide audience.

Of note, Olague founded Deep Dish Records and Thin Crust Records in early 2016.

Olague is currently Executive Producing the "ZAPP MOVIE" with partner, Greg Jackson.

Film industry

In 2001, Timothy Olague formed Important Pictures with childhood friend, Billy Hilbert, p/k/a William De Los Santos (screenwriter of Spun). As of 2012, Important Pictures became a privately held company, owned by: The Coronado Company—based in Olague's hometown of Coronado, California.

The Coronado Company owns several film rights.

In 2010, Olague conceived the idea of Baldy and Badlands, and the Badlanders TV Series, --scripted and reality works which reveal the history of the contribution of skateboarders to the action sports landscape. Filming for both projects commenced in early March, 2016, and is ongoing, for both projects. Primary locations include Mt. Baldy and Upland, California.

Career as professional Roller Derby skater and promoter

From 1994–1996, Olague skated professional Roller Derby for the Los Angeles Aztecs and the Hollywood Stars of the now-defunct, Roller Derby USA skating league. Since then, Olague has contracted for the appearance of the Roller Derby sport in Sony Pictures' "Charlie's Angels II: Full Throttle," CBS' "CSI New York," and NBC's "Average Joe."
