Stephen Shea (born December 21, 1961,) is an American former child actor and voice actor. He is known for being the voice behind the character of "Linus van Pelt" in the Charlie Brown series.
Early life
Stephen Shea was born as Stephan A. Shea on December 21, 1961, in Los Angeles, California. He the younger brother of former child actors Eric Shea (born 14 February 1960) and Christopher Shea (1958-2010.)
Career
Stephen made his acting debut in 1968, playing a supporting role of a small boy in "Log 141: The Color TV Bandit" episode of TV series Adam-12.
In 1971, he got the opportunity to be the voice behind the character of "Linus van Pelt" in the Peanuts animated television specials. He took over the role from his older brother Christopher Shea (1958-2010), who was the character's voice until the 1968 TV special He's Your Dog, Charlie Brown.
Stephen lent his voice to the character in seven television specials: Play It Again, Charlie Brown; You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown; There's No Time for Love, Charlie Brown; A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving; It's a Mystery, Charlie Brown; It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown; and Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown.
He was also the voice behind the same character in the feature-length animated film Snoopy Come Home (1972).
Personal life
Stephen was married to his wife Sheila Shea. The couple had two children.
