Sairam Iyer is an Indian singer, based in Mumbai, India.


Sairam was influenced by Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle.

Sairam has been complimented for his dual voice singing ability by music directors in the Hindi film world, such as Naushad, Laxmikant Pyarelal and Kalyanji Anandji (for whose "Little Wonders" Sairam has sung on various occasions). Anil Biswas, referred to him as the "Eighth Wonder of the World".

Iyer was a student of the late Pandit Ramesh Nadkarni, and won awards at music competitions at different levels (college, university, zonal and national). Iyer participated in the Mumbai University's music choir under the choir conductor Late Kanu Ghosh and, subsequently, was chosen to conduct the choir by Shri Ghosh. Sairam currently trains under the Ghazal Maestro Ustad Mohan Khan sab. Sairam had done good amount of charity works for the earthquake victims and in the tsumani hit areas. He is very much involved in social work and as a professional singer contributes a lot to the industry and to the people he belongs to.

Live performances

Iyer has performed in more than 1500 venues throughout India, the United Kingdom, the United States, South America, Canada, West Asia, West Indies, and the Far East. He has also performed at music and dance festivals.

  • John Coltrane's Music festival - Los Angeles where he performed with the guitarist Carlos Santana and Alice Coltrane, John Coltrane's pianist wife.
  • Spirit of Unity festival held at Visakhapatnam,Shirdi and Srikakulam.

Madonna attended Iyer's performance of Sairam at Los Angeles in 1998, where he performed with the Shahrukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Juhi Chawla, Kajol and others.


  • Sairam and Sairam BMG Crescendo released a romantic music album Aisa Bhi Kabhi Hota Hai, containing two duets, two female solos and two male solos.
  • The Mantram Collection" or "Telephone to Heaven Shaila Music, in alliance with Mantram Records, have released a 5-CD package entitled,"The Mantram Collection" or "Telephone to Heaven", a collection of sound vibrations performed by artists. All musical arrangements and keyboard instrumentation are by Swamini Turiyasangitananda Alice Coltrane on the release. All of the singers are from Sai Anantam Ashram, with the exception of the two lead vocalists from India: the male lead singer is Sairam Iyer; the female vocalist is Sandhya Sanjana.
