Quick Facts
Biography
Rhonetta Johnson (born September 5, 1980 or 1981) also known as Rhonetta is an American singer, rapper, and model most known for her appearance on season five of American Idol, in which she famously became irate after the judges chose not to pick her; calling out Paula Abdul and the other judges. In 2014 Rhonetta released a remix extended play containing remixed versions of previous releases; the extended play is entitled, Never Trust a Thot.
American Idol
Rhonetta appeared on season five of American Idol for their Greensboro, North Carolina auditions. Johnson burst into the room singing her version of Britney Spears' Oops I Did it Again only to "laugh it off"; claiming to be nervous. She wished Simon Cowell a happy birthday then proceeded to make "silly" claims that she could be more successful than Janet Jackson or Mariah Carey. Rhonetta continued trying to impress the judges singing Mary J. Blige's You Remind Me only to not like her rendition, saying it was "hoarse". After singing And I by Ciara the judges decided not to send Rhonetta to Hollywood. After leaving the audition Johnson called out Paula Abdul; mocking her song Straight Up and made claims that if they walked into a room together that no one would recognize Abdul but everyone would think Rhonetta is a celebrity.
Post-Idol career
Johnson released a remix extended play to YouTube on February 16, 2014 entitled, Never Trust a Thot in which she remixed six previous releases of hers. On Instagram Rhonetta made a post eluding to fans that she was in fact a prostitute; claiming she was paid fifty-five dollars for sex and posted a picture of her client. In some of Johnson's YouTube videos posted to her "Rhonetta Johnson" channel she can be seen riding in various semi-trucks with truck drivers leading some to believe that she was hitchhiking and selling sex in exchange for transportation.
Personal life
Rhonetta has been arrested several times over the years since 2003 for crimes such as: DWI, driving with an expired license, and open container to name a few.
