Biography

Pille Runnel (sündinud 26. mail 1974 Tartus) on eesti ajaloolane ja etnoloog.

Ta lõpetas aastal 1992 Tartu Miina Härma Gümnaasiumi, aastal 1998 Tartu Ülikooli etnoloogina; M.A. (etnoloogia, 2001, TÜ), väitekiri "Internet uurimisobjektina: kultuuriloomise protsessid internetis", PhD (meedia ja kommunikatsioon, 2009, TÜ), väitekiri "The Transformation of the Internet Usage Practices in Estonia". Oli 1999–2002 ja 2004–05 Eesti Rahva Muuseumi teadur; 2002–04 ja aastast 2007 Eesti Rahva Muuseumi teadusdirektor, aastatel 2005-2012 Tartu Ülikooli ajakirjanduse ja kommunikatsiooni instituudi erakorraline teadur.

Teadustöö

Uurimisvaldkond: infoühiskonna uuringud, meedia sotsioloogia, meedia antropoloogia, visuaalne antropoloogia, museoloogia. Üle 30 teadusartikli.

Pille Runneli isa on luuletaja Hando Runnel, ema poetess Katre Ligi, vanaisa oli ajalooprofessor Herbert Ligi, vanavanaisa oli akadeemik Harri Moora.
