Biography

Patrick Ferrell (born May 17, 1970,) is an American actor, director, and producer. He is the younger brother of actor/comedian Will Ferrell and has appeared in a few of Will's movies and also served as his assistant in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and Wake Up, Ron Burgundy.

Early life and education

Patrick Ferrell was born on May 17, 1970, to Roy Lee Ferrell and Betty Kay Overman. He is the younger brother of famed actor/comedian Will Ferrell (born 16 July 1967.) 

He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Film/Cinema/Video Studies from the University of Southern California. He then received his Master of Fine Arts degree in Cinematography and Film/Video Production from the same university.

Career

Acting

Ferrell made his debut as a voice artist in the 1995 video game The Berenstain Bears Get in a Fight. Three years later, in 1998, he was seen in a supporting role as a waiter in director John Fortenberry's A Night at the Roxbury (starring Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan).

In the years 1996-1999, Ferrel was seen in different roles in various episodes of Saturday Night Live. This was around the time when his brother, Will Ferrell, was an active member of the SNL cast.

In the following years, Ferrell was seen in his brother's movies Elf (2003), Wake Up, Ron Burgundy (2003), You're Welcome America: A Final Night With George W. Bush(2009), and The Other Guys (2010).

As an actor, Ferrell was last seen on the screen in 2017, portraying the character of a club bouncer in director Kevin Herrera's short comedy Richual. His last major feature film release was director Chris Nelson's comedy Ass Backwards (2013, starring June Diane Raphael and Casey Wilson.)

Producer

As a producer, Ferrell produced two short films: Liberty (2012) and No Age for Us (2013, directed by Leopold Dewolf.) No Age for Us was edited by himas well.

Director

As a director, Ferrell's two short comedy projects were Allergy Guy (2012, starring Kristina Karim and Paul Schoemehl) and You're Welcome: How Not to Throw a Rave(2014, starring Dashiell Driscoll.) Allergy Guy was written by him as well.

Miscellaneous

In 2004, Ferrell served as an assistant to his brother, Will, in the films Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and Wake Up, Ron Burgundy.

Personal life

Through his brother Will's marriage, Ferrell happens to be the brother-in-law of Swedish actress Viveca Paulin and uncle to their three children Magnus Ferrell, Mattias Ferrell, and Axel Ferrell, all of whom are in the film industry.
