Biography
Norman A. Phillips (born July 9, 1923) is an American meteorologist. In 1956, he developed a mathematical model which could realistically depict monthly and seasonal patterns in the troposphere, which became the first successful General circulation model of climate. He was awarded a Benjamin Franklin Medal (Franklin Institute) along with Joseph Smagorinsky in 2003.
Phillips was born in 1923. He graduated from the University of Chicago in 1947 with a B.S. and in 1951 with a Ph.D.
