Nikisha Jariwala

Nikisha Jariwala (Hindi: निकीशा जरीवाला, Gujarati: નિકિશા જરીવાલા) (born 14 November 1985) is a professor in Smt. Tanuben & Dr. Manubhai Trivedi College of Information Science, affiliated to Veer Narmad South Gujarat University Surat, Gujarat, India. She is noted for her work that transliterates multilingual text into braille script and speech in the field of computer science and information technology.

A post graduate from Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, she completed her masters in computer application from Shrimad Rajchandra Institute of Management & Computer Application, Bardoli, Gujarat, India and Ph.D. in Computer Science & Information Technology on Design and Development of the Model to Transliterate digitalized Multilingual Text into Braille and Speech : An Aid for Visually Impaired People from Uka Tarsadia University, Bardoli, Gujarat.

As a researcher, Nikisha's main contribution is the development of the model related to the transliteration of Gujarati, Hindi and English language text into braille and speech which will be useful to blind People. As an academician, Nikisha teaches and supervises project activity of under graduate students. She has published many research papers in various national and international journals and conference proceedings. As an author, Nikisha has written books and chapters in the field of Computer Science & Information Technology. She has also handled research project which was recognized by GUJCOST (The Gujarat Council on Science and Technology) and awarded the grant. Nikisha is also recognized as a guide for M.Phil. and Ph.D. in the field of Computer Science & Information Technology. She was invited to participate in a panel discussion ("SheInspiresUs and 5 Trillion Economy") on International Women Day, organized in Surat, Gujarat.

Nikisha has been working for several years on a model related to the computerization of the transliteration of Gujarati, Hindi and English language text into braille and has been a pioneer in developing the solution for it. The model aims to break the language and technology barrier for visually impaired students and help in their education as it transliterates multilingual documents that are present on the internet.

• 2016: Trend Setter award for innovative means "Transliteration of Gujarati text into Braille An aid for Visually Impaired Patients" from GIS (Gujarat Innovation Society) established under the guidance of our honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
• 2019: Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Lifetime Achievement National Award for the contribution towards the development of the nation and achieving outstanding excellence in the field of teaching, research and publication.
• 2020: National E-Innovation Award for the model that transliterate multilingual text into Braille and Speech : An Aid for Visually Impaired People.
