Matt Edmondson

Matt Edmondson (born 27 December 1985) is a British television and Sony Award-nominated radio presenter, best known for his work with BBC Radio 1 and ITV2.

Edmondson currently presents his own BBC Radio 1 show on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am–1pm. In 2016, he co-presented The Xtra Factor alongside Rylan Clark-Neal on ITV2.

Television

Edmondson was a CBBC continuity presenter from 2004 to 2006, prior to which, in 2002, he was a roving reporter for Channel 4's Richard & Judy.

Edmondson co-presented the 2008 coverage of the Isle of Wight Festival for ITV2. He also provided links and commentary for the MTV coverage of the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards. He presented reports from T in the Park 2009 for BBC One Scotland, BBC Two Scotland and BBC Three.

On 26 June 2009, he presented The Saturdays at Work, a one-off behind-the-scenes documentary following the making of the video for The Saturdays' fifth single "Work" on Fiver.

Edmondson also provided voiceovers for 4Music and presented Channel 4's Freshly Squeezed from 2010 until 2011.

In May 2010, Edmondson presented highlights from The Great Escape Festival and the Topman CTRL Student Tour on Channel 4.

In 2009, Edmondson began presenting the online music-based show Sony Ericsson's Pocket TV. which transferred to T4 for its second series.

In August 2010, Edmondson joined Fearne Cotton and Dave Berry to host coverage of the iTunes Festival for ITV2. He hosted the 2010 BT Digital Music Awards for ITV2 with Caroline Flack.

In March 2011, as part of Comic Relief's 24 Hour Panel People, where David Walliams took part in panel shows for 24 hours, Edmondson presented links in between some of the panel shows, as well as taking part in the last show.

Since 2012, Edmondson has narrated Totally Bonkers Guinness Book of Records for ITV2. Edmondson hosted panel show Fake Reaction for two series on ITV2 in 2013 and 2014. Edmondson narrated the reality programme Killer Magic for BBC Three in early 2014.

In 2014, Edmondson presented the ITV2 show TV OD. On 24 October 2014, Edmondson appeared in a comedy sketch made for The Feeling Nuts Comedy Night on Channel 4 to raise awareness of testicular cancer.

On 27 June 2016, it was announced that Edmondson would co-host The Xtra Factor Live alongside Rylan Clark-Neal on ITV2. The series began on 27 August 2016 and was broadcast live from The Hospital Club. The show was axed in January 2017.

Edmondson narrated the third series of Impractical Jokers UK on Channel 5 and Comedy Central in 2016. In 2017, Edmondson took part in the BBC's Let's Sing and Dance for Comic Relief.

Online

Edmondson was the resident interviewer for Holy Moly TV, from 2006 until 2008, where he conducted irreverent chats with celebrities on HolyMoly.com and YouTube.

During the sixth series of The X Factor in 2009, Edmondson wrote, produced, presented and edited a series of videos on YouTube. These blogs were seen by ITV and in 2010 were legitimised for 'The F Factor' on the official website.

Edmondson also wrote, produced, edited and provided the voiceover to re-caps of the sixth series of The Apprentice in the online show 'Fast Forward'. This was shown on the show's website. In 2012, he appeared in The Apprentice: Matt Edmondson Funny Bits and was available on The Apprentice's BBC webpage and the BBC's YouTube channel. Edmondson presented an online series for The Apprentice in 2013 entitled Matt Edmondson's Awkward Conversations, in which he interviewed each candidate after they were fired.

Radio

On 8 January 2010, Edmondson joined BBC Radio 1, and appeared every Friday on Fearne Cotton's show to report on entertainment news and showbiz gossip. His first appearance on Cotton's programme was on 15 January 2010.

Edmondson began presenting the Sunday 10am to 1pm slot on BBC Radio 1 on 14 March 2010, filling in for regular presenter Sara Cox while she was on maternity leave.

Edmondson started a weekly show on BBC Radio 1 on 6 April 2011 replacing Huw Stephens from 9pm to 10pm on Wednesdays. However, on 19 December 2012, he presented his last Wednesday night show before moving to weekends in January 2013, taking over Vernon Kay's Saturday 10am - 1pm slot and Sara Cox's Sunday 10am - 1pm slot.

Edmondson is also a regular cover presenter for Scott Mills.

Other work

As well as presenting, Edmondson is a writer and producer, having written for the ITV show SMTV Live and Sky1's Shock Treatment. Edmondson has presented online spin-offs for The X Factor and The Apprentice and has occasionally appeared as a panellist on the BBC Two show You're Fired!.

Edmondson was a columnist for The X Factor magazine. He appeared in the music video for the song "Make Peace Not War" by British grime artist Skepta.

In 2015, Edmondson created and launched the party game 'Obama Llama' and in 2016, he launched a second game called 'Rainbow Rage'.

Edmondson is originally from Portsmouth and was educated at St Edmund's Catholic School, a Roman Catholic voluntary aided state comprehensive school in the city, before attending Havant College, a sixth form college in the town of Havant in Hampshire, now lives in Greenwich, London. His elder sister Kate Arnell is also a television presenter. In May 2012, Edmondson became engaged to his long-term girlfriend Bryony Emmett, and the pair married in 2013. In September 2016, Edmondson missed an episode of The Xtra Factor Live. During the show, it was announced that Bryony had gone into labour, and at the end of the show it was announced that she had given birth to a baby girl.
