Biography

Lutz Lindemann (born July 13, 1949) is a German professional football coach and former player.

Club and international career

Lutz Lindemann played in his youth at Aufbau/Empor Halberstadt and the 1. FC Magdeburg. In 1967, he moved to Motor Nordhausen and finally came to FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt in 1971. There he played until 1977, until he moved to the Thuringian rival FC Carl Zeiss Jena, where he played until his career in 1981 and celebrated his greatest successes.

In the DDR Oberliga, Lindemann played 205 games, scoring 42 goals. On 7 September 1977, he made his debut in the football national team of the GDR at the 1-0 defeat against Scotland in Berlin. Three years later he finished his last international match against Spain with draw (0-0). In total, he won 21 times the tricot of the GDR national team and scored two goals. With the Jenaern, he reached 1981 the final round the European Cup, the Thuringian lost in the Rheinstadion in Düsseldorf with 1:2 against Dinamo Tbilisi.
