Biography

Jing Lusi is a British-Chinese actress. Her first television role was as ill-fated junior doctor Tara Lo in the BBC television series Holby City. Lusi was part of the original cast of the European premiere of Amy Herzog's award-winning play 4000 Miles. She has also presented for the BBC, as well as being the focus, for the documenties My Chinese New Year (2015) and Chinese New Year: The Biggest Celebration on Earth (2016). She currently stars in Sky 1's Stan Lee's Lucky Man as Lily-Anne Lau and co-starred in the film Crazy Rich Asians, starring Constance Wu and Michelle Yeoh, and released by Warner Bros. in 2018. as Amanda "Mandy" Ling, Manhattan socialite and Nick's former girlfriend.

Early life and education

Lusi was born in Pudong, Shanghai, and moved with her parents to the United Kingdom at the age of five. She studied at Peter Symonds College, Winchester, obtaining all A Grades at A Level, before reading law at University College London.

Career

Lusi began her career in independent and international films.

In 2009, Lusi played Princess Li Hua in KRU Studios' The Malay Chronicles: Bloodlines. The film required Lusi to speak Bahasa Melayu, which she had to learn phonetically. Lusi has starred in independent British films Jack Falls opposite Jason Flemyng, Dexter Fletcher and Olivia Hallinan, Breathe (2010) with Ricci Harnett, and Bollywood action film Tezz with Anil Kapoor.

In 2012, Lusi joined the cast of the BBC's BAFTA award-winning medical drama series Holby City, making her debut in Series 14. She played Tara Lo. In 2013, she left the cast when her character died during neurosurgery. Her final episode aired on 16 April 2013. Her other television credits include Law & Order: UK and Josh.

In 2015, Lusi appeared in action thriller film Survivor alongside Milla Jovovich, Pierce Brosnan, Dylan McDermott and Robert Forster as US Embassy Agent Joyce Su .

On stage, Lusi performed as Amanda in the Pulitzer Prize shortlisted play 4000 Miles at the Theatre Royal, Bath and The Print Room in London in 2013, for which she received critical acclaim. The Independent described her performance as, "cruelly well observed, and very funny... Jing Lusi nails the narcissism and the ridiculous, relentless self-promotion of the Facebook age".

Lusi performed at Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2015 as part of a collective of comedians in Immigrant Diaries; a comedy story telling show aimed to 'show a different side' to the heaviness of the topic during the General Election of the same year.

In 2015 – 2016, Lusi hosted the annual Chinese New Year Celebrations in Trafalgar Square.

She was the subject of the BBC1 My Chinese New Year which was broadcast on 1 March 2015.

Since January 2016 Lusi has starred as Lily-Anne Lau in Sky 1's Stan Lee's Lucky Man. Additionally she joined the cast of Scott & Bailey for Series 5, playing the part of new character DC Anna Ram.

Lusi appeared in the film Crazy Rich Asians in 2018. as Amanda "Mandy" Ling, Manhattan socialite and Nick's former girlfriend
