Biography

Louisa Moritz (born September 25, 1946) is a Cuban–American actress, real estate holder and former lawyer. After arriving in New York from Cuba, she became an actress in films, television shows, and television ads. She is best known for her role in the television show Love, American Style.

Early life

Louisa Moritz was born Ciro Netto Castro in Havana, Cuba and left Cuba during the political upheaval of the 1950s/early 1960s, hiding aboard a ship and making her way to New York City. She chose the stage last name of Moritz after seeing the Hotel St. Moritz in New York City and later named the property she bought on S. Reeves Saint Moritz Hotel. She had a son who remained in Flushing, New York to be raised by her sister when she left for Hollywood.

Real estate

Louisa Moritz has been active in Los Angeles real estate as agent, manager and investor.

Accusations against Bill Cosby

In November 2014, Moritz joined six other female accusers of actor Bill Cosby, claiming Cosby sexually assaulted her in a Manhattan dressing room for The Tonight Show in 1971. There is no evidence to support her accusation, made on the heels of attorney Gloria Allred's headline-grabbing demand that Cosby put up $100,000,000 for his alleged victims. Moritz did not report the alleged crime to the police, nor did Bill Cosby ever appear on The Tonight Show with Moritz as she claims to remember. Moritz is a plaintiff with six other women suing Bill Cosby and his lawyers for defamation, in response to the legal team's denial of their unsubstantiated allegations. Moritz went to law school, but on 25 June 2015 was suspended by the California State Bar and is currently not eligible to practice law. The suspension was due to negligence for untimely procedural document filings.
