Biography

Leslie Shows (born 1977) is an American artist who is recognized for expanding the boundaries of landscape painting.

Early life and education

Shows was born in Manteca California, in 1977. Her childhood in Juneau, Alaska had an intense impact on the work she would create as an adult. She received her B.F.A. in 1999 from the San Francisco Art Institute and earned her M.F.A. from the California College of the Arts in 2006.

Work

Leslie Shows' earlier works were mixed-media collages depicting abstracted landscapes. Her more recent paintings, while retaining the use of mixed media, have become more abstracted and focus on mineral textures and geologic features.
