Biography

Lee Anthony Angol (born 4 August 1994) is an English footballer who plays for Peterborough United as a striker.

Career

Wycombe Wanderers

On 2 July 2012, Angol was signed by Wycombe Wanderers after leaving Tottenham Hotspur, having been a regular in their academy side. On 11 August 2012, he made his professional debut for Wycombe, coming on as a 100th-minute substitute for Matt Bloomfield against Watford in the League Cup. Wycombe lost the match 1–0 in extra time. He then made his league debut against Gillingham, coming on in the 84th minute for Grant Basey on 21 August 2012. Wycombe lost the match 1–0.

Loans

In January 2013, Angol joined Hendon of the Isthmian League Premier Division on loan, where he made nine league appearances and scored twice.

At the beginning of the 2013–14 season Angol re-joined Hendon on loan for one month, scoring twice in four games. On 5 October 2013 it was confirmed that Angol had signed a one-month loan deal with Maidenhead United of the Conference South after bagging pre-season hat-trick against the side. However, he did not make an appearance for the club and joined Maidenhead's divisional rivals Boreham Wood for an initial month in January 2014. He made his debut for the side on 25 January 2014 against Dover Athletic in which he came on as a 77th-minute substitute for Austin Lipman as Boreham Wood drew the match 2–2. Angol's loan was extended until the end of the season as he played in 19 league games for Boreham Wood, scoring five goals.

Luton Town

Angol joined Luton Town on 9 July 2014 on a free transfer from Wycombe Wanderers, but was immediately sent out on a season-long loan to Boreham Wood. Luton offered him a new contract in May 2015 upon his return from the loan, but Angol rejected it.

Boreham Wood loan

Angol finished the 2014–15 season as the Conference South top scorer with 25 goals in 39 games, as well as additional goals in Boreham Wood's FA Cup campaign and play-off victory, helping them to promotion to the National League for the first time in their history. He was named as the club's player of the season alongside winning the Young Player of the Year accolade at the National Game Awards.

Peterborough United

After impressing at Boreham Wood, Angol signed for Peterborough United on 20 July 2015 for an undisclosed fee, signing a three-year contract. He scored twice on his debut for the club in a 5–1 victory at Oldham on 12 September 2016 and went on to score 11 goals in 38 games for the club that season.

On 9 July 2016, Angol fractured his ankle in a pre season friendly at Boston and required surgery to place a pin in his leg. No timescale was placed on his return.
