The details (from wikipedia)

Leandro Pereira do Nascimento Lo (11 May 1989 – 7 August 2022) was a Brazilian jiu-jitsu 8 times world champion. He also won titles at the World Cup, the Pan American Championship, and the Brazilian National Jiu-Jitsu Championship. He held an unbeaten winning streak at the Copa Podio from 2011 to 2013. Lo earned his black belt under Cicero Costha at Cicero Costha Academy in São Paulo, Brazil. In 2015, he created the New School "NS" Brotherhood team. His guard technique earned Lo recognition as one of the "best pound for pound grapplers to have ever graced the mat."

Lo was shot in the head after an altercation with an off-duty military police officer at a party in São Paulo, Brazil on 7 August 2022, and died on his way to the hospital. He was 33.

The São Paulo Public Security Secretariat reported that a civil police officer asked for the preventive detention of the military officer Henrique Otávio Oliveira Velozo, who was identified as the shooter.

Based on information from witnesses, an argument took place between Leandro Lo and PM Henrique Velozo, who was off duty, around 2 am.
