Biography

Lajos Engler (Serbian Cyrillic: Лајош Енглер), also credited as Lajoš Engler, is a Serbian retired basketball player.

Playing career

Engler played for his hometown team Proleter and Belgrade's team Partizan from 1946 to 1960 in the Yugoslav Basketball League. During time with Proleter he won the National Championships.

Yugoslavia national team

As a player for the Yugoslavia national basketball team Engler participated at two FIBA World Championships (1950 and 1954) and two European Championships (1953 in Moscow and 1957 in Sofia). He played 79 games for the national team.

Career achievements and Awards

  • Yugoslav League champion: 1 (with Proleter Zrenjanin: 1956).
  • Lifetime Achievement Award, awarded by Zrenjanin City Sports Association (2017)
