Biography
Komil Ismailovich Allamjonov (born on September 18, 1984) is an Uzbek statesman, entrepreneur, and former Press Secretary of the President of Uzbekistan. He also served as the Press Secretary of the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan.
Early life and education
He was born on September 18, 1984 to a mechanic and a nurse in the Uzbek capital of Tashkent. He started his entrepreneurial activities at the age of 14, by selling lumps of sugar to his family and his neighbors. He graduated from the Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture in 2006 andgraduated from the Tashkent State University of Economics in 2010. Allamjonov also studied at Harvard University in Massachusetts to improve his knowledge of languages.
Career
Entrepreneurship
Allamjonov is often known as one of Uzbekistan's the youngest and most promising entrepreneurs. He is the founder of a number of projects, including AvtoTest, which is an innovative driving school designed to reduce traffic accidents. He is also the founder of the TV channel Milliy and Iman Media.
Press Secretary of the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan
He first worked as the chief specialist of the information service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and then was appointed the Press Secretary of the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan. He was in this position for 8 years from 2005 to 2013.
Allamjonov’s team launched new multifunctional and interactive website of the committee — soliq.uz. In 2015, soliq.uz wins The Best Government Website in the National Internet Contest of Uzbekistan.
In addition, he also successfully carried out such projects as Tax through the eyes of children campaign, Soliq Info newspaper and BEM (accountant's electronic assistant).
Press Secretary of the President of Uzbekistan
On December 1, 2017, Allamjonov was appointed as the Press Secretary of the President of Uzbekistan by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, succeeding Asadjon Khodjaev.
Komil Allamjonov has initiated a number of projects as President's press secretary. For example, aimed at familiarizing media and thus the wide public with the new reforms undertaken by President Mirziyoyev, press hall under the press service of the President started its activity. This platform is unique in the country, involving bloggers along with journalists and media professionals.
On January 12, the first briefing with journalists took place in this press hall, where Komil Allamjonov spoke of the need of regular communication between the government and the media.
Social media accounts of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev were opened. Today President's official page on Facebook has over 200 thousand followers. The official channel of President on Telegram messenger has more than 300 thousand subscribers. While Mirziyoyev's pages on Facebook and Telegram communicate with public in Uzbek and Russian, the official page of the press service of Uzbekistan's President set English as its working language. All these social media accounts are verified. Video reports about President's visits to foreign countries and regions of Uzbekistan, other interviews and shows are frequently covered live on Facebook page.
Besides, Allamjonov's team has created and broadcast two short films: Shayx Muhammad Sodiq Muhammad Yusuf xotirasiga ehtirom, a documentary about outstanding contemporary Islamic scholar from Uzbekistan va Ilohiy yo‘l sari, a documentary about Al Bukhari, great Hadith collector from Bukhara that is situated in the territory of modern Uzbekistan.
In order to have “a platform for exchange of opinions, and also suggestions on improving press service's activity”, he started running his Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
Personal Life
His father Ismoil Allamjonovich Shakir-Kariyev (born on May 9, 1957) was a car mechanic at a shop in Tashkent. His mother Gulnora Ashirovna Shakir-Karieva (born on January 12, 1961) worked as a senior nurse at a maternity home in Tashkent. He is fluent in Russian, English besides his native Uzbek.
Recognitions and other information
Assigned in Mirziyoyev's dynamic reforms period, youngAllamjonov attracted the attention of local and international media. Particularly, first among Uzbek officials, he gave a statement on the death of Diana Yenikeeva, a forced labour victim in Kattakurgan of Samarkand region.
Allamjonov regularly holds briefings for journalists on the eve of Mirziyoyev's visits to foreign countries, including his official visit to the US and participation at SCO Summit in Qingdao, China. Briefing sessions are quite popular on social media, live posts from them are liked and shared by hundreds of people.
He not only posts about his work, but about his meeting with his colleagues from other countries, about how he is missing Eid celebrations with his family and his favourite public transportation — underground.
