Biography
Klaus Stöhr (geb. vor 1985 in Zerbst) ist ein deutscher Virologe. Er war Leiter des Global-Influenza-Programms und SARS-Forschungskoordinator der WHO.
Leben
Stöhr studierte Epidemiologie und Veterinärmedizin an der Universität Leipzig, wo er 1985 diplomierte. Bereits Anfang 2004 warnte er vor dem Influenza-A-Virus H5N1, dem Erreger der Vogelgrippe H5N1, das eine weltweite Grippeepidemie auslösen könnte.
Anfang 2007 gab er seinen Posten bei der WHO auf und wechselte in die Impfstoffentwicklung der Pharmafirma Novartis, Forschungsstandort Boston/Cambridge.
