Kim Charney (born 2 August 1945) is an American former film and television actor active in the 1950s. He currently works as a surgeon in Orange, California.

Early life

Kim Charney was born as Kim James Charney on August 2, 1945, in San Diego, California. He is the elder brother of actresses Chris Charney and Kathleen Charney.

Career

Acting

Charney made his acting debut in 1952 with a minor role in director Joseph Pevney's romance/drama Because of You. After appearing in a minor, uncredited role in The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T. and Adventures of Superman (TV Series), he landed his first credit in 1954, appearing as "Peter Benson III - 'Pidge'" in Lewis Allen-directed crime drama Suddenly (starring Frank Sinatra and Sterling Hayden.)

The 1950s kept Charney busy with plenty of roles in a wide range of TV series/movies such as The Pepsi-Cola Playhouse (1954), Your Favorite Story (1954), The Talking Wire (TV Movie, 1955), General Electric Theater (1955), Dragnet (1956), Zane Grey Theater (1957), Telephone Time (1957), and Lux Video Theatre (1955-1957).

In the years 1955-1957, Charney was seen in three different roles, as "Link Webb", "Buddy Fowler", and "Short Lassiter", in three episodes of the hit television series Tales of the Texas Rangers.

Charney was last seen on TV in 1963, with the portrayal of character "Frank" in the "The Risk" episode of TV series Mr. Novak.

Medicine

Charney retired from the show business after his last role in 1963 and attended School Of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine, graduating with a Medical Degree in 1970. After medical school, Charney completed residencies at Baylor University Medical Center, Cardiovascular Surgery; University of California, Irvine, School of Medicine, General Surgery; and Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center, General Surgery. He is board-certified in Surgery by the American Board of Surgery and currently practices in Orange, California.
