Kathy Cash was born Kathleen Cash on April 16, 1956, in Memphis, Tennessee, to singer Johnny Cash and his first wife Vivian Liberto. She grew up in Southern California after her family left Tennessee and relocated to Casitas Springs, California.
Kathy has four siblings: Rosanne Cash (born 24 May 1955,) Cindy Cash (born 29 July 1959,) Tara Cash (24 August 1961,) and half-brother John Carter Cash (born 3 March 1970 to Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash.)
Johnny Cash married Vivian Liberto in 1954. The two had met in July 1951 at a roller skating rink in her native San Antonio, while Cash was in Air Force training. Around a year after the marriage, he met June Carter Cash in 1955 while on a tour. Cash's drug and alcohol abuse, his frequent run-ins with the law, and his affair with June Carter ultimately led Liberto to file for a divorce from Cash, in 1966. Kathy and her three sisters were raised by Liberto in California.
Kathy married musician Jimmy Tittle on November 24, 1982. The couple has three children, including Dustin Tittle and Kacy Tittle. Dustin is a Nashville-based film producer and writer. His 2016 film What's the Matter with Gerald? was directed by his husband Matt Riddlehoover and has Kathy in one of the leading roles.
