Biography
Justin Smith (born January 8, 1978), better known as Just Blaze, is an American hip hop record producer from Paterson, New Jersey and attended Rutgers University for three years before dropping out to pursue his musical career. Blaze is also the CEO of Fort Knocks Entertainment. He is best known for producing Jay Z songs on the albums The Blueprint, The Blueprint 2, and The Black Album. His production can also be found on Eminem's 2010 album Recovery. Blaze appears in the video for the third single from Recovery entitled "No Love", which he also produced.
He got his stage name from the character Blaze Fielding from the Streets of Rage video game series.
Just Blaze is an avid video game fan. He has written sound-tracks for video games and has even been a character in one. His favorite console is the Sega Genesis.
On 25 August 2001, singer Aaliyah was leaving the Bahamas after finishing shooting the video to her single Rock The Boat. Aaliyah was en route to record a remix to her song More Than A Woman with Just Blaze. Minutes after take off however, Aaliyah and the eight others on board the plane they were travelling in died when the plane crashed.
