John Susskind Hayes (August 21, 1910-October 14, 1981 Jacksonville, Florida) was an executive with The Washington Post and the American Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein from 1966 to 1969.,

Biography

Hayes graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1931 and was a resident of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida when he died of congestive heart failure.

Career

Hayes retired after a twenty year career with the Post, culminating as president of Post-Newsweek Stations and as executive vice president and member of the board of directors of The Washington Post Co. Hayes was a member of the U.S. delegation to the International Conference on Satellite Communications in 1969 and chairman of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty since 1976.
