Napier was born on December 2, 1926 in Roda, Virginia, USA. He served in the army in the Pacific during the world war II and worked as a police officer before becoming an actor.

After retiring from acting, he worked as corporate financial executive.

Napier died on November 17, 2008 in Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado.
