Biography
Jen Bartel is an American illustrator and comic artist, best known for her work for Marvel Comics and Image Comics. She co-created the comic Blackbird for Image with Sam Humphries. She won an Eisner Award for her work as a cover artist in 2019.
Career
Bartel first produced fan art, and progressed to producing covers for mainstream comics companies.
She had announced a planned collaboration in 2017 with writer Ta-Nehisi Coates to produce a Storm comic series, which was not in production as of 2018.
Bartel has created shoes for Adidas featuring the Marvel Cinematic Universe character Captain Marvel, timed for release with her film, that was released on March 8, 2019. A month later, Adidas unveiled sneakers designed by Bartel based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe character Thanos, it was a timed released to commemorate the release of Avengers: Endgame, that began on April 26.
Awards
She won an Eisner Award for her work as a cover artist on Blackbird (Image) and Submerged (Vault).
