Jaylen Arnold (born 28 August 2000) is an American activist, philanthropist, and actor.
Early life
Jaylen Arnold was born in Lakeland, Florida as Jaylen Malachi Holt Arnold on 28 August 2000 to Howard John Arnold, Jr. and Robin Arnold. He suffers from Tourette Syndrome, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and Aspergers Syndrome. He began seeing the symptoms of Tourette Syndrome when he was 2, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder at the age of 4, and he was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome at the age of 8.
Arnold attended Victory Christian Academy school in Lakeland, Florida.
Activism
At the school, Arnold was bullied for his perceived illnesses. In response, he decided to campaign against bullying by raising awareness to help himself and other children who are in the same situation. He founded Jaylens Challenge Foundation, a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to promoting awareness and prevention of bullying through education and community service. The foundation, which carries the tagline, "Bullying No Way!" was founded in May 2009, when he was 8 years old.
Since the start of his campaign, he has gained the support and attention of various Hollywood celebrities including Dash Mihok, Terrell Ransom, Jr., Brian J. White, Anthony Anderson, Sam Waterston, and Leonardo DiCaprio. Arnold and Dash Mihok have created several National PSA's and television commercials together. Mihok is also on the board of Jaylens Challenge Foundation.
In 2010, Arnold was featured in Discovery Health Channel's "Tourette’s Uncovered," a program which profiled children with Tourette’s syndrome.
In 2016, singer Dylan Brady created an anti-bullying music video as a #RandomActofKindness for Arnold's #HALOEFFECTCHALLENGE for Nickelodeon TV.
In 2017, Arnold received the Princess Diana Legacy Award by Prince William and Prince Harry. In October 2018, he was featured as "Amazing Kid! of the Month" on Amazing Kids Magazine.
Arnold is currently attending the Southeastern University, Lakeland, Florida.
