Helena Kadare

Helena "Elena" Gushi Kadare (born 1943 in Fier, Albania) is an Albanian author of short stories and novels. One of these, 1970's Një lindje e vështirë, is the first by a woman to have been published in Albania.

Kadare has lived in Paris with her husband Ismail Kadare since 1990. Theirdaughter Besiana Kadare is the Albanian Ambassador to the United Nations.
