Hani Sarie-Eldin

Dr. Hani Sarie-Eldin is an Egyptian professor. He has published many articles and books in English and Arabic focusing on law, economic development and how economic reform is not possible without institutional and social reform to turn policies and visions into reality.

Hani Sarie-Eldin was born in 1966 in Cairo, to Egyptian parents rooted in Menya Governorate. His father, Salah Mohamed Sarie-Eldin, died in 1983 when Hani was aged 17. Sarie-Eldin followed in his father’s footsteps and became a lawyer. After his father’s death, his mother supported him throughout his personal and professional paths until her death in 2011. Sarie-Eldin is married and has a son and a daughter.

In addition to his work as an attorney, law professor and international arbitrator, Sarie-Eldin has contributed to the political life in Egypt following the Egyptian Revolution of 2011. He was a member of the first presidential council for the Free Egyptians Party that which gained 12 seats in Egypt’s 2012 parliament and of the National Salvation Front (Gabhet El Enkaz) which was formed by several Egyptian alliances as a unified oppositional front against the old Islamic regime.

Following protests and July 2013 popular revolution, Sarie-Eldin contributed to the establishment of the National Group and the Development Movement to provide technical support for young independent parliamentary candidates to run for the 2015 parliamentary elections.

• In 2002, Sarie-Eldin was awarded an Academic Excellency Award from Cairo University for his research in Legal Sciences.
• In 2010, Sarie- Eldin & Partners was awarded the Best Law Firm in Egypt for providing professional legal services to the financial and direct investment sector, from the Global Trade Matters, in partnership with the Egyptian stock Exchange.

Sarie-Eldin has numerous legal publications in Arabic and English.
