She was the executive mayor of City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality and served as the Gauteng provincial health minister from 1998-2006. Dr. Ramokgopa is the chancellor of Tshwane University of Technology. She was born in Atteridgeville. She was Executive Mayor of Tshwane Metropolitan City 2006 - 2010.
