Gloria LeRoy (November 7, 1931 — May 24, 2018) is an American film and television character actress, remembered for having first played Bobbi Jo Loomis, the wife of Archie's old war buddy Duke, and later the voluptuous Mildred "Boom-Boom" Turner in the 1970s sitcom All in the Family (1972-1978). LeRoy had a diverse career, with a number of roles on film, TV, and stage.

Early life

Gloria LeRoy was born on November 7, 1925, in Bucyrus, Ohio, to vaudeville performers Russell and Loletta LeRoy. She was raised in The Bronx, New York City, where her family owned a dance school.

Her younger brother Kenneth LeRoy (1927–2019) was also an actor (the first Bernardo in West Side Story.)

Career

LeRoy was trained as a dancer. In 1943, aged 17, she performed on Broadway in Artists and Models with Jackie Gleason as a Specialty Dancer. Her early career started in night clubs as a dancer and singer for Barbara Walters' father, impresario Lou Walters, at the Latin Quarter. Her film debut came in 1968 in the role of Mae Harris in William Friedkin's The Night They Raided Minsky's, starring Jason Robards and Britt Ekland. In 1971, she had a supporting role in Norman Lear's comedy Cold Turkey.

In 1973, LeRoy was seen in an episode of the series Love, American Style. In 1975, she landed the recurring role of Millie in the TV series Hot l Baltimore. She also had recurring roles on the soaps Passions (2000) and Days of Our Lives (1989). She appeared in Three's Company as Nancy in the episode "The Goodbye Guy" (1980), as well as on Married... with Children as Chesty LaRue in episode "Live Nude Peg" (1997).

LeRoy is perhaps best known for playing the voluptuous Mildred "Boom Boom" Turner in the 1970s sitcom All in the Family. She was seen in 4 episodes from 1972 through 1978.

In 2001, LeRoy appeared in season 8 episode 23 of Frasier entitled "A Day In May"; she played Mrs. Smolenski, a prospective house buyer.
