Biography
Elaine Feeney (born 1979)is an Irish poet.
Feeney was born in Galwayand has lived much of her life in Athenry. She won the Cúirt Grand Slam in 2008. She was educated at the town's Presentation College, and teaches English at St. Jarlath's College, Tuam. She resides in Athenry with her husband Ray Glasheen and two sons. Feeney has performed internationally since her first slam success. She is considered one of the 'most provocative female poets to come out of Ireland in the last decade' (Fionnaula Flanagan - 2013 - California)
Personal life
Feeney grew up on a farm in Athenry, Co. Galway. She went to Scoil Croi Naofa, Athenry a school she disparages in 'The Radio was Gospel', and completed her education at University College Galway, University College Cork and University of Limerick.
She read with the Chilean Poet, Raul Zurita at the 2015 Versefest in Ottawa, Canada.
