Biography

Francisco Carmelo Camet, also known as Eduardo Camet (September 16, 1876 – July 15, 1931) was an Argentine fencer who competed in the late 19th century and early 20th century.
Born in Buenos Aires, he participated in Fencing at the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris and successfully fought his way thorough the preliminary heats, the quarter finals and the semi finals reaching the epee final. He finished in fifth place overall. He was the father of Carmelo Félix Camet, who won the bronze medal in the team foil at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam. He was the first ever Argentine participant at the Summer Olympics and also the first South American athlete.
