Douglas Nicholas

Douglas Nicholas (October 3, 1942 - February 24, 2016) was an American poet whose work appeared in publications such as Atlanta Review, Southern Poetry Review, Sonora Review, Circumference, A Different Drummer, Cumberland Review, and the South Coast Poetry Journal. His books of poetry are Iron Rose, poems inspired by and set in New York City; The Old Language, reflections on the company of animals; The Rescue Artist, poems about his wife and their long marriage; and In the Long-Cold Forges of the Earth, a wide-ranging collection of poems.

His books Something Red, The Wicked, and Throne of Darkness are fantasy novels following the adventures of Hob, a boy just entering into manhood, Maeve, a mystical Irish queen, and an unlikely band of warriors traveling in thirteenth century England.

Nicholas was born October 3, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Manhattan College in Riverdale, Bronx in 1960.

Douglas Nicholas lived in New York's Hudson Valley with his wife, Theresa (Adinolfi). His obituary stated he had lived in Rosendale, New York since 1998.
