Biography

Frederick Douglas Friedman (born September 1, 1971 in Greenwich, Connecticut and raised in Cape Elizabeth, Maine) is an American former professional ice hockey forward. Friedman was selected in the eleventh round of the 1991 NHL Entry Draft, 222nd overall, by the Quebec Nordiques. Friedman played four years with Boston University in the NCAA before beginning his professional career with the Cornwall Aces of the AHL. He was voted captain of the team for his willingness to stand up for his team mates. Friedman had two brief NHL stints, in the 1997–98 and 1998–99 with the Edmonton Oilers and Nashville Predators, primarily as an enforcer. He was the only player taken from Edmonton in the 1998 NHL Expansion Draft. He finished his career with the Worcester IceCats of the AHL in 2001.
Doug has three children. Jaxon, Grady, and Marina. Doug is married to Lori Friedman. In 2014, Doug decided to work at Kents Hill School in Kents Hill, ME. Doug is the athletic director.
