Dona Speir (born 7 February 1964) is an American motivational speaker and former model and actress.
Early life
Speir was born Dona Linda Speir on 7 February 1964 in Norwalk, California.
She was a gymnast at the high school and started modeling at an early age. She graduated from Fountain Valley High School in Fountain Valley, California with the Class of 1982.
Career
Modeling and Acting
Speir was selected as Playboy's Playmate of the Month in March 1984 issue. Subsequently, she appeared in a variety of Playboy videos including Playboy Mid Summer Night's Dream Party (1985), Playboy: Wet & Wild (1989), Into the Night (1991), and Playboy: California Girls (2000) among others.
Later in 1984, after becoming the Playboy Playmate, Speir was seen in a supporting role in the "Club Ten" episode of the TV series Automan. She also made guest appearances in popular TV shows such as The New Mike Hammer in episodes Bonecrunch (1984) and Satan, Cyanide and Murder (1984); Matt Houston in episodes The High Fashion Murders (1984), The Bikini Murders (1984), and Target: Miss World (1983); and Knight Rider in episode Knight of a Thousand Devils (1986).
She appeared in several movies directed by Andy Sidaris. In seven of the films, including Guns (1990), Do or Die (1991), Hard Hunted (1993), and Fit to Kill (1993), she portrayed the character of federal drug enforcement agent Donna Hamilton.
Motivational speaker
After retiring from the show business, Speir became a dedicated spokesperson, motivational speaker, and personal growth counselor including working as Personal Recovery Assistant (PRI). In 2018, she earned accreditation as an NCRCI, NCRCII, NCIP (Recovery Coach I, II, Interventions) and has made her service to the addiction and recovery community a top priority.
Author
Speir has also published her memoir tiled Naked Truth: The Fall and Rise of Dona Speir. In the book, she talks about how the disgraced comedian Bill Cosby turned her idyllic upbringing in suburban Los Angeles upside down in 1979 — when she was just 16.
Personal life
Speir was married to Bruce A. Berman. The marriage ended in a divorce. The couple had a child –– Grayson Leonard Berman, born in October 1994.
